State ag director visits Richmond
Missouri Department of Agriculture Director Richard Fordyce, left, in suit, was among the officials and Ray County farmers who greeted USDA Undersecretary Michael Scuse, tan jacket, right, Thursday at the Farm Services Administration building in Richmond. The local FSA office was one of just two stops Scuse made in Missouri to promote the beginning of a USDA aid program for livestock and forage farmers who suffered losses during the 2012 drought. Several farmers completed applications for the federal aid while Scuse observed and asked questions about the enrollment process. The livestock indemnity program and others were re-enabled and funded with the passage of the 2014 Farm Bill. The application process started April 15.
