Richmond tennis coach Julie Baker is seeing some improvement from her Spartans as the season progresses. The Spartans evened up their MRVC East record at 2-2 with an 8-1 win over visiting Carrollton at the Maurice Roberts Park courts.
Richmond, now 3-5 overall lost at No. 1 singles, but had few problems in taking the remaining five singles and all three doubles matches.
“Our play is slowing improving,” Baker said. “Strategy is finally coming in to play. We still need to work on our second serves. We are giving away too many points to double faults.”
Chad Truby lost his match at No. 1 to Bryan Phillips 3-8, but Richmond took the remaining matches.
