Probst, Tweedie get third-place finishes for RHS

The Richmond Spartans picked up a pair of second-place finishes in the relays, while also having two third-place individual showings during Tuesday’s Hoot Middleton Invitational held at the Robert Middleton Track.

The Spartans ended the 11-team meet with 37 points to finish in eighth place. Grain Valley captured the boys’ team title for the second time in the past three years. The Eagles ended the meet with 129.5 points, followed by Lawson with 115 and Oak Grove with 103.

The 4 x 400 team of Matt Tweedie, Ethan Turner, Taylor Teegarden and Daymean Probst finished as runners-up with a time of 3 minutes, 37.4 seconds, which was a little over 2 seconds behind the winning time of Oak Grove.

The same group of Spartans also teamed up for a second-place finish in the 4 x 800 with 8:45.82, while Grain Valley crossed the line in 8:41.82.
