Freshman Riley Gorham picked up two of Hardin-Central’s four first-place finishes Tuesday as the Bulldogs won the Tri-County meet at the Robert Middleton track. The Bulldogs ended the day with 127 points, while St. Paul Lutheran was the runner-up with 90 points. Lexington grabbed third spot with 78.5 and Wellington-Napoleon was fourth with 72.
Wyatt Nail had a pair of first-place finishes to help Orrick to a fifth-place total of 68.5, followed by Santa Fe with 67.5, Penney with 65, Carrollton with 56, the host Spartans with 52, Concordia with 18, and Norborne with .5.
Riley won both distance races for Hardin-Central. He crossed the line in the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 1.16 seconds, and won the 3,200 in 11:01.43. Richmond’s Ethan Turner placed eighth in the 1,600 with 5:57.8. Wyatt Craven turned in the winning time of 53.22 for Hardin-Central in the 400 meters, while Rhyler Estenbaum captured the 800 with 2:14.65. Teammate Spencer Wheeler placed third in the 400 for the Dawgs with 56.63, with Orrick’s Martin Bryar taking seventh in 59.9.
Sean Utley turned in the third-place time for Hardin-Central in the 800 with 2:16.
Nail won a pair of field events for the Bearcats.
