Orrick FFA forestry team wins group, individual honors

Orrick’s forestry team placed first among 19 Missouri schools March 14 and also had the top individual honor. Colton Guthrie had the high score among all individual contestants and Mitch Martinez placed 7th overall. Team members had to identify 20 different species of trees, identify common tools to the forestry industry, complete a topographical map reading test, make forestry management decisions for timber stand improvements, and measure standing timber to figure board foot value.
