Norman Keith Greer, 89, of Higginsville, and formerly of Orrick, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.
Norman was born Nov. 12, 1924 in Orrick, to Finley and Matilda (Proctor) Greer. He married Velma D. Barber of Orrick, Dec. 7, 1940. They were married for 73 years. She survives of the home.
Norman retired from the University Of Health Sciences College Of Osteopathic Medicine as an Operating Engineer in 1986. He also owned and operated Norman Greer’s Pest Control in Orrick until he retired. He was a deacon in the First Baptist Church of Orrick and Higginsville. He lived most of his life in Orrick, before moving to Higginsville in 1992.
Additional survivors include; two sons and two daughters-in-law, William Garry and Connie Greer of Orrick, Norman Ladell and JoAnn Greer of Lee’s Summit; one daughter, Teresa Leann Alberswerth of Higginsville; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Norman was the youngest of eight children in his family.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the South Point Cemetery Association.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 25, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in South Point Cemetery near Orrick.
