William “Bill” Pearson

William “Bill” Pearson, 80, of Richmond,  died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at his home.

After a lengthy battle William L. Pearson succumbed to his illnesses.  Bill was born April 8, 1933 in Verdon, Neb. to Gerald and Mabel (Neff) Pearson; they preceded him in death.  He was the oldest of four children.  As a young man Bill set out to explore the world and after a few years settled down in Ray County, where he planted his roots.  Over the years Bill cultivated the love for flying he developed as a young man; flying at every opportunity he was given. Bill made a living doing what he loved; moving earth.  He was a member of Local 101 and owned and operated Pearson Construction Company for over fifty years.  He was of the Baptist faith.

In 1978, Bill married Lynne, who survives him of the home.  Together they built a life in Richmond where Lynne continues to reside with his beloved dog, Miss Scooter.  Bill, lovingly called Mr. P by many, is survived by his wife, Lynne (Noblet) Pearson; his daughters, Debbi Shannon and husband, “Gizmo” of Carrolton; Sandy Burns and husband, Arlyn of Richmond; his sons, Mike Pearson of Hardin, and Mark Pearson and his wife Coleen of Richmond; his step-daughter, Catherine Coleman Johnson of Hendersonville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Mr. P are his three sisters; Glenda Beck of Sioux City, Neb., Kay Hicks and her husband, Russ of Beatrice, Neb., and Joy Pearson of St. Paul, Minn.; along with many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Crossroads Hospice, Gladstone.
