Marshall Jeffery Simpson, 56, of Chilhowee, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at the Vitas Hospice Center at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born May 29, 1957 in Orange, Calif. to Marshall V. and Patricia A. (Handley) Simpson. Jeff was raised in Richmond, and graduated from Richmond High School in 1975. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Warrensburg.
Jeff was married Oct. 15, 1977 to Judy A. McKee of Henrietta. To this union three daughters were born. Cody (Mrs. Jerin Calvert) of Richmond; Casey (Mrs. Windsor Jelinek) of Richmond; and Cara (fiancé TC Dolphin) of Kansas City, Mo. Jeff’s girls were the light of his life.
On July 28, 2001 he married Carol Wagle Hazen of Smithville. Jeff chose to accept Carol’s children as his own, Steven (Andrea) Hazen of Smithville, and Amber (Bill) Hildebrandt of Durand, Mich.
Jeff was previously employed as a commercial truck driver at DSI Enterprises and more recently worked in the farming industry with Bob Grainger Farms of Chilhowee.
In addition to his parents and children Jeff is survived by his wife Carol Denise (Wagle Hazen) Simpson of Warrensburg; Sisters: Kim (Mrs. Rodney Hamilton) of Richmond, and Shannon (Mrs. Ron Cramer) of Macomb, Ill.; grandchildren: Carsey and Kinley Calvert, Noah, Cole, and Reed Hazen and Clayton and Cady Hildebrandt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jeff in death were his sister Mandy E. Simpson and his grandparents.
The family suggests memorials contributions be made to either the Vitas Hospice Center at Research Medical Center or to the Ray County Fair Board.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
