The Richmond license office contract has again been awarded to the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Revenue announced Jan. 30, but the office will soon have a new home – a downtown Richmond storefront.
Peggy Grosso, executive director of the chamber, said Friday the license bureau would relocate from Bargain Town to 111 N. Thornton, a storefront on the square’s southeast corner at East Main Street.
“Part of it is location,” said Grosso, who has overseen the bureau’s operation at the rear of Bargain Town for several years. “Randy’s (Randal Kennett) been very good to us at Bargain Town, but when that office was put out there more of the building was filled. We feel kind of isolated out there.”
