The Orrick Bearcats outscored Crest Ridge 21-11 in the final 8 minutes Saturday afternoon for a 57-54 road victory over the Cougars. Orrick’s win Saturday helped ease the sting of a 69-63 loss at home Friday night to Lone Jack.
The Bearcats trailed Crest Ridge 43-33 after three periods before beginning their fourth-quarter rally.
Orrick led 12-10 after one quarter and the game was tied 26-all at the intermission.
Tanner Wyse and Mason Karnes both had a double double for Orrick to help the Bearcats improve to 5-15 overall and 2-1 against I-70 Conference competition. Both hit for 21 points as Wyse connected on 10 of his 14 shots from the field, while hitting the boards for 11 rebounds to go along with 3 assists. Karnes grabbed 13 rebounds with 4 assists, a pair of steals and 2 blocked shots.
Orrick made half of its 44 field goal attempts and 13 of 25 free throws. The loss dropped Crest Ridge to 2-14 overall while remaining winless in four conference games.
