The Spartan wrestling team swept a road triangular Tuesday night at Brookfield against the host Bulldogs and Trenton Bulldogs. Richmond has now won its last six duals and are 7-4 overall as the Spartans get ready to compete at Saturday’s Lathrop Tournament.
The Spartans defeated Brookfield 48-36, and then stopped Trenton 52-27.
Braidn Ford earned the final points for Richmond to defeat Brookfield. With the dual tied at 36-36, Ford won the final match at 113 with a fall over Jose Ruelas in 3:55 to provide the winning margin.
Richmond began with getting a pair of forfeits at 120 and 126 in its dual against Brookfield. The Bulldogs then won the next two matches as Cody Niemeier won by fall over Mason Hewitt in 19 seconds at 132, and Zachary Bragg also winning by fall over Drew Fizzer in 1:20.
The Spartans won the next four matches beginning with Garrison Sanders at 145 with his fall over Richard Menconi in 1:24. Austin Keefhaver also won by fall at 152 over Jacob McLaughlin in 4:30. Brookfield was open at 160 and 170. The Spartans dropped the next three matches – all by falls. Alex Vance lost in 1:46 to Joseph Abongo at 182; David Parker lost in 1:44 at 195 to Reed McBroom; and Kaleb Heber lost in 2:31 to Trevor White at 220.
