Martha M. Haynes, 78, of Richmond, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Martha was born Feb. 12, 1935 in Independence, to Lester Vivian (Dutch) and Violet Agnus (Aselt) Greathouse. She first married Elgie Hartman of Kansas City; he preceded her in death. She married William Little of Georgia; he preceded her in death. She then married Charles “Sonny” Haynes; he preceded her in death.
Martha was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She had worked Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, and also in the Kansas City School District. She was a member of the American Kennel Club. She was a professional breeder of Min Pins and Jack Russell Terriers. She was of the Christian faith. Martha had lived in the Kansas City, Mo., Excelsior Springs, area and in Hermitage, before moving to Richmond in 2011.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Hartman and his companion, Laura Campbell of Richmond, Edward Mark Hartman of Kansas City, Mo. and Ronald Paul Hartman of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Terry Rowden of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Beverly Greathouse of Independence; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Martha was preceded in death by one son, Steven Hartman; one brother, Albert Greathouse; and one sister, Barbara Johnson.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 3, at 3 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 3, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Inurnment will be at a later date. On line condolences may be left on our website at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
