Bikes for Books giveaway turns Dear readers into big wheels

The Richmond Masonic Lodge 57 held its final Bikes 4 Books drawing for the fall semester. Winners from Dear Elementary received their bicycles Friday morning from Lodge members Ron Peterson and Dowell Carter.
Bikes 4 Books awards students for getting more involved in reading. The top boy and girl from kindergarten and the first grade who read the most pages have their names put in a drawing for bicycles that have been purchased by area businesses.
Winners from kindergarten were Julie Riche and Noah Spratt. First grade winners were Ava Scheible and Isaac Douglas. Loucian Hedrick-Stack was the winner of the all-school drawing.
Dear Bikes 4 Books sponsors were Empire Gas, Farmer’s Home Insurance, Alvin’s Heating and Cooling, Richey Chiropractic and Terry Tharp Auto Recovery.
