Richmond had five forfeits against Smithville and five more against Harrisonville in the Spartan wrestling home opener Tuesday night in the RHS gym. The forfeits cost the Spartans 30 points in each dual, but other than those lost points, Richmond wrestled its two opponents on even terms.

Richmond lost its first dual of the night to Harrisonville 43-36, but won five of the eight contested matches. The Spartans also received one forfeit with Dylan Caldwell winning at 120 pounds.

Dominic Nobile grabbed the first Richmond win of the night with a fall over David Barnett in 1:51 in the 126-pound match. After Drew Fizzer lost by fall in 3:35 to Nathan Kreimeyer in the 138-pound match, Garrison Sanders won by fall at 145 when he defeated Kyle Hix in 2:53.

Harrisonville captured the next two weight classes. Austin Keefhaver lost a 3-0 decision to Brance Neal at 152, and Wyatt Bulk dropped an 11-2 decision at 160 to Nick Kreimeyer.

Brock Stokes put Richmond back in the victory column when he won by fall in 2:00 over Austin Hastings at 170.
