Owen Lee Perks, 68, of Richmond, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Owen was born Oct. 11, 1945 in Kansas City, and reared by George W. Perks, Sr. and Helen (Steele). He married Linda S. Lee of Richmond, July 23, 1964; she survives of the home.
Owen retired from Ford Motor Company in 1995, after thirty-two years of employment. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local #249. He had also been a Jailor for the Ray County Sherriff’s Department. He was a 1963 graduate of Richmond High School. He was of the Baptist faith. He lived most of his life in the Camden and Richmond areas.
Additional survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kenton Scott and Kerri Perks of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Lisa VanTrump of Richmond, and Leann Jenkins and her husband, Kevin of Richmond; one brother, George W. Perks, Jr. and his wife, Billie of Richmond; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Pete and Allie Castilleja, Gavin and Dutches Castilleja, Holly Wollard, Kristin and Kaylee VanTrump, Peyton, Kaden Owen and Konnor Perks; six great- grandchildren, Braylon, Brylee and Bowen Lee Castilleja, Caige Castilleja, Sheridon Newberry and Zoe Jenkins; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Owen was preceded in death by his parents.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Cardiac Rehab Department at Ray County Memorial Hospital or to The Children’s Place for abused and neglected children at 2 East 59th Street in Kansas City, Mo 64113.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
