After a 5-hour search Wednesday, law enforcement and emergency personnel located a missing 14-year-old unharmed.
The teen boy, identified as being autistic, left his grandparent’s home where he resides around 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to Joseph Cline, Wood Heights assistant fire chief.
Around 30 law and emergency personnel – from Wood Heights and Excelsior Springs fire departments, Richmond and Lawson fire and police departments, Ray County’s Sheriff’s Department and Highway Patrol – began a search of the area to locate him. The teen was last seen walking eastbound on Highway 10, according to Cline.
He was found around 1 p.m. walking around a creek near Wood Heights city lake, Cline said.
