Jo’s Jottings: Connie Taylor presents talks on new RC Women’s Resource Center

By Jo Ellen Dale

Hope you are staying warm in this up-and- down weather.  On the news I see that we are in for more of the same. Well, it is getting close to Christmas and I will go green and take this way to give warm greetings to all my friends.  I wish for you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

At the Rotary Club meeting last Friday Connie Taylor and Linda Emley were awarded the Paul Harris Award and Connie gave the program on the Ray County Women’s Resource Center or RCWRC.  They provide information, education and health choices for women who find themselves pregnant.  Their goal is to provide hope, truth and support for families.

I was happy that Mrs. Taylor also spoke on the same subject at the Richmond Kiwanis club meeting on Tuesday, as I had missed a great deal of her program on the same subject at Rotary due to my hearing loss. This faith- based alliance is composed of a variety of people who want to meet the needs of people in Ray County and the surrounding area.  Very interesting  and informative programs.

Wednesday as usual I went to Our Place for breakfast only to find that no one else was able to come.  Marlene Skyles joined me and it is always a pleasure to visit with her.

At noon on Wednesday, Women’s Ministries of the United Christian Presbyterian Church held a Christmas luncheon that was delicious and varied.  It was a carry-in meal and everything I tasted was not only tasty but unusual.

At Rotary, the program was given by Bill Cosgrove on many Rotary programs world- wide and was very interesting.  Again due to my hearing impairment I missed some of his remarks.

Sunday at the United Christian Presbyterian Church, the children put on a Christmas play that was extremely well done.  From the choir it was impossible to catch all the dialog or to see everything but I got enough to be very impressed with the whole thing.  Following the service, we adjourned to the family life center for cookies, punch and coffee.  There were many people in attendance whom I had not seen for a long time and it was wonderful to visit and catch up.  You may be surprised to learn that I then went home and prepared a meal.

As my computer is giving me problems, I will send this in before it locks up again!

Until next week, Dale...@aol.com
