John Thomas Claire, 83, of Excelsior Springs,died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 at the Ashton Court Health and Rehab Center in Liberty.
John was born June 2, 1930 in Kearney, to Carl Brian and Gladys (Mulligan) Clare. He married Judith K. Kennedy of Excelsior Springs, Oct. 13, 1956; she survives of the home.
John was a mechanic for TWA Airlines for 28 years before retiring in 1984. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War; and he was also a United States Navy Veteran. He was a member of the V.F.W. John was owner and operator of Claire’s Boot and Tac Repair. He was of the Catholic faith. John had lived in the Ray County area most of his life.
Additional survivors include; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Thomas Claire II and his wife, Patti of Richmond, and James T. and Renee’ Claire of Rayville; one sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Carl Snodgrass of Excelsior Springs; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jason Owen and Tara Claire, Thomas Sean and Tamara Claire, Eric Shane and Kristen Claire; and three great-grandchildren, Rylee Jo Claire, Kloyee Claire and Penelope Claire also survives.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one brother, Donnie Claire; and two sisters, Susan Jones and Gladys Sickles.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at the Crown Hill cemetery in Excelsior Springs, where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans.
