James Lee “Jim” Fitch, 85, of Richmond, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born Aug. 26, 1928 in Kansas City, Mo. to Lee McCall and Nell (Kincaid) Fitch.
Jim was a foreman at Lake City for 40 years before retiring in 1990. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Richmond High School. He was of the Christian faith. Jim was a Richmond volunteer Fireman. He had lived most of his life in the Richmond area.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tracy Fitch of Richmond; and two granddaughters, Shelby Dawn Parker and Emily Ann Fitch.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shirkey’s Hospice.
Memorial graveside services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. at the Sunny Slope Cemetery in Richmond where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com
