Sweet Springs shot 47 percent from the field, while the defense came up with 14 steals to help the Greyhounds to a 72-47 win over host Orrick in the first round of the I-70 Conference Tournament Tuesday night.
The Greyhounds won their fourth game in as many tries with Jacob Schowengerdt scoring a game-high 24 points. The senior was one of four Hounds in double digits with Andrew Krause scoring 18 points, followed by Jefferey Hall with 15 and Nathan Vogelsmeier with a dozen.
Sweet Springs also hit seven 3-point buckets with Hall connecting on three outside the arc, with Schowengerdt and Krause making two apiece.
