Leo V.C. Smith, 81, of Rayville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013.
Leo was born Aug. 30, 1932 in Buffalo, to Robert Ira and Lily Frances (Wilson) Smith. Leo married Sharon Hedrick. Leo served in the
US Army from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict as an Airborne Ranger and served a 2nd term from 1960 to 1962. He learned his trade in the service and was a self employed master electrician, retiring after nearly 50 years. Leo was a lifelong member of the V.F.W., and a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He served the Lord through music in various churches and revivals, anniversary’s, birthdays, rest homes and the Glory Barn. He also played in Eagleton Center in Richmond.
Leo is survived by his wife Sharon Smith of the home, a son Michael Smith and Tracy of Richmond, a daughter Laura Jean Long of
Richmond, three grandchildren; Jamaica Lynn, David Hill, and Lacy Renee Howard, and three great-grandchildren; Alexander Zane Howard, Billy Jay Copenhaven, and Amarie Kadence Smith-Burton.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Richard Anthony Howard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Hospital Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
