Ray County Women’s Resource Center to offer counseling, services for unplanned pregnancies

 By JoEllen Black/Richmond News

A year after her decision to open a resource center for pregnant women came to fruition Saturday.

Connie Taylor, with the help of numerous volunteers, supporters and area pro-life politicians, cut the ceremonial red cord marking the grand opening of Ray County Women’s Resource Center, 112 S. College St. in Richmond.

Volunteers worked up to midnight Saturday to put the finishing touches on the office. The space includes a bathroom, reception area, examining room and counseling rooms, all supplied with comfy recliners and couches. The remodeled area has new flooring and a coat of paint in soothing sage green colors.

“Every piece has been donated with the exception of a couple of sofas,” Taylor, the center’s executive director, said.

Building owner and City Councilman Dave Powell has made the facility rent-free for one year, she said. Richmond physician Dr. Jamie Honeycutt provided an examination table free of charge, too.
