Wanda Jean Smith Pettijohn, 91, Richmond, formerly of Union Star and Savannah, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at a Richmond, nursing home.
She was born Feb. 28, 1922 in Rea, the daughter of Sanford and Josephine (Barton) Smith.
On Dec. 27, 1941, she married John Austin Pettijohn. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1995. She also was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Schildknecht; two brothers, J. O. Smith and Bill Smith; and grandson, Bradley Pettijohn.
She was a homemaker. In addition to her family, her greatest pleasure was volunteering at the Andrew County Senior Center in Savannah.
Survivors include a daughter, Vera (Wesley) White, Richmond; sons, John (Ruth) Pettijohn, Houston, Texas and Lyle (Carol) Pettijohn, Cabool; sisters, Ina Miller, Cabool, and Ida Ellen Swink, King City; grandchildren, John (Debbie) Pettijohn, Layton, Utah, Jeff (Carla) Pettijohn, Oregon, Daryl (Hannah Praiswater) Pettijohn, Fillmore, Jennie (Derek) Vreeland, St. Joseph, Kit Lowrance, Seattle, Wash., Melinda (Darrin) Gragg, Filmore, Katie (Yvan) Jean-Louis, Forestside, Mauritius; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Roberson Funeral Home, King City. Burial in Union Star Cemetery, Union Star. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
