RHS seniors shine at MRVC meet

Senior Mary Beth Bailey out-ran the field Wednesday afternoon in winning the MRVC girls’ cross country meet held at Southview Park. Bailey set a new meet record by crossing the finish line in 20 minutes, 43.3 seconds, breaking the old mark of 21.10 set by Harrisonville’s Melissa Watson.

Kayla Sanning of Grain Valley finished a distant second with a time of 21:13.30, followed by teammate Lindsey Mangum with 21:27.9 as the Lady Eagles captured the team title with 34 points. Excelsior Springs took second place with 62 points, followed by Odessa with 67, Holden (79), Richmond (108) and Oak Grove (150).

Freshman Jocelyn Caldwell finished 15th for the Lady Spartans with a time of 23:10.9, with Kiah Cline taking 30th in 26:23.3. Also for Richmond, Kaylee Vantrump crossed the line in 27:04.3, one spot ahead of teammate Nina Bass in 27:21.1.
