Richmond senior Matt Tweedie added another top-10 finish to his resume, and Hardin-Central freshman Riley Gorham replaced his name again in the school record book at Wednesday’s Excelsior Springs Invitational.
Tweedie helped the Spartans to a third-place finish in the 10-team meet held at the Excelsior Springs Golf Course. Richmond totaled 118 points, while Platte County won the team title with 26 points, followed by Liberty with 50. Lawson placed fourth with 121, and Hardin-Central took eighth place with 206.
Gorham took third place with his time of 17 minutes, 46 seconds which set the Hardin-Central record for the fourth time this season. Platte County’s Nathan Straubel crossed the line first with a time of 17:13, followed by Christian Carter of Excelsior Springs 15 seconds later.
Tweedie’s time of 18:11.7 was good for fifth place for Richmond’s lone top-10 finish. Wyatt Bulk finished in 19:24.8, which placed the RHS junior 25th, followed by Kody Reed with the 33rd-best time of 19:51.2, and Roy Branson five spots behind with his time of 19:59.
Other Richmond finishes had Taylor Teegarden taking 50th with 20:37.1, Zach Isetan in 20:44.8 (53rd) and Ethan Turner in 21:50.2 (70th).
