To the Editor:
Thanks for replying to my request and writing about the Fence Stile Winery. I’m glad the paper included a photo and explanation of a fence stile since most people don’t know its meaning or history.
The readers surely learned a great deal about this winery, along with the fact that having two, soon to be three wineries, in Ray is a plus for the county. How terrific that William and Shriti, the owners, chose this location over 66 others!
Wine Consultant/Cowboy Richard Diess from California probably knows more about wine than anyone in the state of Missouri and has stories to match – lots of stories about everything (his wife is from Missouri).
I appreciate the information in your stories.
– Karen Joiner,
Editor’s note: In addition to Fence Stile in the far eastern part of the county, Ray has a second operating vineyard/winery in the Rayville area. Van Till Family Farm Winery has operated a winery/restaurant for several years. A third grape-growing operation is located in Millville. Owner Tom Sullivan has devoted 20 acres to producing grapes and has plans to pursue the licensing to become a winery.
