Marie Hopper, 84, passed away Oct. 1, 2013 in Goodyear, Ariz. where she had been lovingly cared for by her daughter, Kerri Jenkins and granddaughters, Lyndal and Dalyn Jenkins.
Marie was born in Wichita, Kan. April 20, 1929 and spent her childhood in the Kansas City area.
She married Stan Hopper and they spent many years working at Sears, Roebuck & Co. They then moved to Gladstone, where they were very active in the community especially the Gladstone Public Safety Department. Later they moved to Hale, where they owned Hopper’s HyKlas grocery and then to Brunswick, where they owned the Little Dutch Donut Shop. They also lived in Moberly, where she worked in the bakery of the grocery store then moved to Triplett, where she worked at the Post Office until retiring at age 70 when they moved to Lawson, to be closer to family. She was a member of Eastern Star, Warren Star Chapter # 254 and the Lawson United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Stanley Hopper, her parents, Edward Kaiser and Rhoda Martin, and her beloved “Mommy” Ivy Ruddick.
She is survived by her daughters, Kerri Jenkins, Jackie Livingston (Bill Adamo) and son David Hopper (Vicki), her grandson, Trey Livingston and granddaughters, Chandee Harper (Dan), Dalyn Jenkins, Lyndal Jenkins, Kris Murphy (Jason), and Erin Hopper and two great-granddaughters, Shaley Harper and Alyia Fulkerson.
Graveside services Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Lawson Cemetery.
