Former Democratic Representative and Wentworth Alumnus, Congressman Ike Skelton passed away Monday at the age of 81.
Wentworth Military Academy and Academy Public Relations Office has announced that visitation and funeral services will be held at the Wentworth Military Academy and College campus located in Lexington, Missouri at 1880 Washington Avenue.
Visitation will be held on Sunday November 3rd. A private visitation will be held for the Masonic and Tribe of Micosay from 1:30pm – 2:00pm. The visitation is open to the public from 2:00pm – 8:00pm. Visitation will be held in the Hall of Honor at Groendyke Hall on the Wentworth Campus.
On Monday, November 4th from noon – 1:45pm a private viewing will be held in the Hall of Honor for select dignitaries.
Congressman Skelton’s funeral will be held on Monday, November 4th at 2:00pm. The funeral will be held in Wikoff Hall on the Wentworth Campus.
“The Wentworth family has lost a dear friend and a great alumnus,” said Colonel Mike Lierman, President of Wentworth Military Academy and College. “Congressman Skelton loved Wentworth Military Academy and College so it is very fitting that the services to lay him to rest be here on campus. Ike will always be an essential part of the Wentworth and Lexington communities. It is a great honor that the Skelton family has requested that his funeral services be here at Wentworth Military Academy and College.”
A media and press briefing will be held on both dates prior to any scheduled event. The purpose of the briefing will be to explain the expectations and guidelines for the day. We ask that any media who plans to be visit the Wentworth campus for either the visitation or the funeral be in attendance at the media and press briefing. The briefing will be held on Sunday at noon and Monday at 11:00am. in Tillotson Barracks.
