Carol Francis Thomas, 84, of Richmond, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at his home.
Carol was born March 31, 1929 in Hughesville, to William and Fern (Forbes) Thomas. He married Lucille Marie “Pat” Pummil of Sedalia, Dec. 24, 1953; she preceded him in death May 25, 2002.
Carol worked for the Missouri Public Service from 1953 to 1991, when he retired. He was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church, the Richmond V.F.W and the Richmond American Legion. He also served on the Richmond City Council for two terms. He moved his family to Richmond in 1967. Carol served his country in the United States Air force in Korea during the Korean War.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Brad and Mary Thomas of Liberty, and Carl Thomas of Richmond, three grandchildren, Stacey Stroble and her husband, Troy, Jordan Thomas and Bailey Thomas; and one great-granddaughter, Paige Stroble.
In addition to his parents and wife, Carol was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Thomas and Earl Thomas.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 1:30 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Richmond where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans.
