The Lady Spartans made it two for two in MRVC East softball play Thursday afternoon with a 6-1 win on the road over Higginsville.
Richmond, 3-1 overall, scored all the runs it would need in the top of the first inning after Mallory Cole led off with a triple. Elizabeth Windsor drove her home one-out later, followed by a walk to Alexis Thaxton. Paige O’Doniel capped the 4-run first inning when she plated 2 more runs after reaching on Higginsville’s second error of the game. The Lady Spartans added 2 more runs in the third, which was more than enough behind the pitching effort of Nicole Camp. The Richmond junior faced 25 batters in her 7 innings and allowed just 4 hits, a hit batter and a pair of strikeouts. Camp gave up her only run in the bottom of the first on a leadoff double by Sam Davis and a Tori Nienhauser single.
