Letter: Introducing this year’s Wall of Honor honorees, events

To the Editor:

The Richmond Education Foundation is pleased to announce that the Wall of Honor committee has selected two individuals for the Richmond R-XVI Wall of Honor. The 2013 inductees are Jo Ellen Dale, faculty, and Gregg Steele, volunteer.
The Wall of Honor award recognizes individuals who uphold the values, traditions and successes of the Richmond R-XVI School District. Honorees and their accomplishments will inspire and encourage district patrons and students to do the same. An undetermined number of inductees are selected each year based on the qualifications of the nominees.
Many events are planned to recognize the 2013 Class of Wall of Honor inductees. The honorees and/or surviving spouse/family members are encouraged to attend along with each individual’s nominator(s), family and the general public.
At 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, the Wall of Honor inductees will ride in the 2013 RHS Homecoming Parade. Line-up for the parade will begin at 1 p.m. in the RHS parking lot.
At 5:30 p.m., the Wall of Honor Tailgate Dinner will be held at Tom Adams Field. The event will be catered by Richmond All Sports Club.
The public is invited to meet, greet and eat with the honorees and their families before the 2013 Homecoming football game.
Tickets for the tailgate dinner are available in advance by calling April Green or Jeff Southwick at 816-776-6912 and are $10 each. Tickets will also be sold during home football games prior to homecoming and at the event Sept. 27.
At 6:30 p.m. the same day, the Wall of Honor Pre-Game Ceremony will be held at Tom Adams Field. Wall of Honor inductees will be presented with the Wall of Honor award, which will be displayed at the Richmond High School Commons for the next 12  months. Family members and nominators are encouraged to attend.
During the 2013-14 school year, a Wall of Honor Video Tribute will be shown in the RHS Commons. The Wall of Honor committee is producing a high-quality video tribute about both of this year’s inductees. The compilation video will be broadcast on an LCD television in the Richmond High School commons at various times throughout the school year.
Financial contributions for the Wall of Honor are accepted any time of the year and are used to offset expenses for recognition activities, DVD production, plaques and engraving.
2013 Wall of Honor contributors include: Spartan level, ($100 or more), Richmond All Sports Club, Thurman Funeral Home; Shield level ($50), The State Bank, Swafford Ford; other contribution levels are the Sword ($25) and Spear ($10).
Individuals who’d like to contribute can mail checks payable to Richmond Education Foundation, Inc. re: Wall of Honor, 1017 E Main St, Richmond MO 64085
