The Lady Spartan bats could not get started Thursday afternoon against visiting Holden. Richmond was held to just 3 hits as the Lady Spartans dropped their first MRVC East contest of the season, 6-0 at Southview Park.
The loss dropped Richmond to 3-1 in league play and 5-5 overall, while the Lady Eagles go to 3-1 in conference with their sixth win in nine games overall.
Holden scored a run in the third and then put the game away with a 5-run outburst in the fifth inning. Sydney Gearhart had 2 of Holden’s 4 hits for the afternoon, while the Lady Eagles took advantage of 5 walks and 3 Richmond errors. Nicole Camp surrendered 6 runs for Richmond, but they were all unearned. Camp allowed just 2 hits in her 4 1/3 innings. Karen Jaggers faced the final nine batters and struck out 2 with 2 hits allowed.
