H-C’s Gorham sets mark in first meet

In his first-ever varsity cross country competition, Hardin-Central freshman Riley Gorham put his name in the school record books. Gorham broke the school record while running in the St. Mary’s Invitational at William Jewell College in Liberty Sept. 7. Gorham covered the hilly course in 18 minutes, 36 seconds for a sixth-place finish to set the new school mark.

Gorham followed that race with a ninth-place finish at Thursday’s Oak Grove Invitational. Gorham crossed the line in 19:08.

Matt Periman, a Hardin-Central sophomore placed 38th in a time of 20:37, with Spencer Wheeler turning in the 57th-place time of 21:10.
