The Hardin-Central Bulldogs scored the first three times they touched the ball Friday night to get the 2013 season started with a 46-0 rout at South Nodaway. The Bulldogs rolled up 334 yards on the ground with quarterback Rhyler Estenbaum gaining 130 yards on 8 carries. The Hardin-Central sophomore scored the first four touchdowns for the Dawgs in addition to completing 3 of his 4 pass attempts for 18 more yards.
It took Hardin-Central only one play to find the end zone. After the defense forced a Longhorn punt on South Nodaway’s first series, Estenbaum took the first snap for the new season and raced 30 yards for the score. The Dawgs ended the opening period holding a 24-0 lead and added one more touchdown before the half was over as Estenbaum added touchdown runs of 22, 15 and 51 yards. In addition, he completed a pair of 2-point conversion passes to Chase Sims while running the other two conversions in.
Hardin-Central added a touchdown in the third and fourth quarters as well. Sean Utley, who added 105 yards on a dozen attempts to the Bulldog rushing total, scored on a 4-yard run, and Gage Marshall added the final touchdown with a one-yard score.
