Former Kansas City Royal Jim Eisenreich again joins with House of Hope for its fundraiser golf tournament Sept. 13 at Shirkey Golf Course.
“Jim has volunteered for House of Hope for several years helping with with the golf tournament. He is a team leader in every way and his willingness to take time out of his busy schedule and help our cause is so touching,” said Christal Milligan of House of Hope an agency that works with families affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse. Eisenreich along with Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation chaplain Bill Purcell are co-chairs of the event.
Eisenreich enjoyed a 15-year professional baseball career beginning in 1982. He played with the 1997 World Series champions Florida Marlins along with the Royals, Twins, Dodgers and Phillies in his career.
Additional teams and sponsors are sought. Cost is $100 for a single player and $400 for a team of four. Hole sponsorships are $100. The event features hole and raffle prizes and putting contest. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9. Proceeds of the event will go toward helping more abuse victims and House of Hope’s rape crisis program, Milligan said.
