The Orrick Bearcats got a little better offensive performance Friday night, but dropped their Homecoming game to Sweet Springs 34-0 at Simmons Field. The Greyhounds, now 2-3 overall and 1-2 in I-70 play, held a 20-0 lead at halftime and then added a touchdown in the third quarter and one more in the fourth.
“Overall we played much better and it was a close game for much of the first half,” Orrick coach Nick Chapman said. “Our quarterback had an injury late in the second quarter which took away a lot of the momentum we had going.”
Orrick ran for a season-high 144 yards on 49 attempts. Alex Stockton led the way as he picked up 77 yards on 21 carries. Sweet Springs rushed for 249 yards on 40 plays.
