The Humane Society of Ray County has a selection of adoptable cats and dogs at its shelter. Adoption days are Saturdays and Sundays from 1-3 p.m. at 200 S. College St. (the old county jail). For info, call: 816-776-8576 or 816-456-4976.
Adoption fees are $110 for dogs or $80 for cats, which includes spay/neutering, shots, tests and registered microchipping for dogs.
The two dogs pictured here are new arrivals. They are brothers and have lived together since birth. They are very shy and quiet so far, and seem to be housebroken.
When taken outside, they are not as shy but still remain very calm. Shelter volunteers know them both as very nice dogs. They are:
Brownie: Male, Short-haired Terrier Mix, Weighs 18 pounds, Born July 2012.
Love Bug: Male, Terrier Mix, Weighs 16 pounds, Born 2012.
Little Bit is a newly arrived, cute energetic little puppy. If given the choice he prefers to potty outside. He seems to get along well with everyone.
He’s about 9 months old, which means he is about as big as he is going to get. He weighs 17 pounds, so’s he’s likely not part Australian Shepherd as the shelter originally thought.
He may have some corgi in him (check out those big ears).
Little Bit is neutered now so he is ready to be adopted. He is really sweet and playful.
