MONDAY, AUGUST 5

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. with weigh-in, Weight Watchers will meet at the Ray County Health Department, 820 E. Lexington St., Richmond.

At 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., T.O.P.S. (Take off Pounds Sensibly) meets at the United Christian Presbyterian Church, 501 N. Spartan Dr., Richmond.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 6

At 11:30 a.m., Richmond Kiwanis meets at the 19th Hole with social time beginning at 11:30 and meeting at noon.

At 4 p.m., American Legion will host bingo at the Ray County Veterans Building, 312 Clark St., Richmond. Doors open at 4 p.m. with the first game beginning at 6 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the Ray County Community Arts group will hold its monthly board meeting at the Eagleton Center in Richmond.  The meeting is open to the public. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fleming Baptist Church will have its food pantry open to all residents of Richmond, Camden, Fleming, Hardin, Henrietta, Orrick and Rayville.  Please bring proof of residency and own boxes.

From 4 to 5 p.m.,  Havesters mobile food pantry will be at 210 Hwy. and Bruns Rd. at the Arnold’s Pioneer Seed Building in Orrick.  This is available on a first come first serve basis.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 8

At 9 a.m., Connect with your well deserved VA Benefits.  Hearing problems? Agent orange? Meetings will be every Thursday at the Veterans Building on Clark St.  Contact Jim Rippy for more information 816-739-9899.

From 3 to 5 p.m., Richmond Middle School will have its orientation for incoming sixth-grade students at the school; students should arrive promptly and meet in the commons area. During this two-hour orientation, students to meet with sixth-grade teachers in break-out groups where they’ll learn about schedules, school policies and procedures, locks and lockers and location of classes. Parents are encouraged to stay from 5 to 6 p.m. for their orientation with their children. Parents may pick up an information packet at the middle school office beginning Monday. Aug. 5. Completed packets can be returned during the orientation.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 9

At noon, Rotary meets weekly at Shirkey’s19th Hole.

From 4 to 8 p.m., Orrick Farmers Market at the corner of Bissell and Front streets. Come sell or buy.  No charge to vendors – must follow Health Department rules and regulations.  For questions, call 816-716-9374 or 816-260-1479. A community service of the Orrick Lions Club.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 10

 At 7 a.m., Norborne Soybean Festival 5K will have sign ups beginning at 7 a.m. with the race at 8 a.m.  This is a flat course and will be a run/walk race.  $20 registration fee received by August 3 will ensure a participant T-shirt.  Make checks payable to:  Norborne R-8 Athletic Dept., Norborne High School, 405 Pirate Lane, Norborne, MO 64668.  Contact Michael Lock at 660-542-4449 for any questions.

At 1 p.m., The Ray County Genealogical Association will meet at the Ray County Museum.  The program will be, “Improving Your Research Techniques.”  The public is invited.

At 6:30 p.m., the Country Hoedown will be held at the Legion Hall in Holt. Come play, sing or listen. Bring snacks to share. Coffee, soft drinks and tea are provided. Donations benefit the Legion to aid in community projects. For more information, call 816-637-2053.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 11

From 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., First Baptist Church, Richmond will host Celebrate Recovery led by Mike Bliss.  For general information, 816-776-2296.

At 9:30 a.m., CottonCreek Cowboy Chapel will hold Cowboy Church, 5 miles north of Richmond on 13 Hwy., right on 144th 1/3 mile, left at red mailbox to big red building.  For more informaiton contact Pastor Mike Stephens 816-256-1403.

Beginning at 5 p.m., Lexington Wind Symphony presents its third concert of the season, “A Summer Night at the Movies,” at Lexington United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 1211 S. Business Highway 13 in Lexington. Free will donations will be accepted to cover the cost of the event and to purchase sheet music.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21

From 2:30 to 5 p.m., The Ray County Senior Center will distribute USDA COMMODITIES. If you need to use Ray County Transportation or need to make special arrangements please call 816-470-5808 to make these arrangements.

Meeting times for Richmond AA and Al-Anon are:  Mondays noon and 8 p.m., Tuesdays noon and 8 p.m., Wednesdays at noon, Thursdays at noon, Fridays noon and 8 p.m. (open meetings), Saturdays noon and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 10 a.m. Open meetings include the first and third Fridays and at 6 p.m. Sunday Big Book Study. Al-Anon meets at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Both groups meet at 304 W. Franklin St., Richmond.
