Norma June Shirky, 85, of Independence, passed away Aug. 7, 2013 at her home.
She was born May 31, 1928 in Hardin, to William and Anna (Rosewarren) Ferguson. She was united in marriage to Virgil G. Shirky who preceded her in death.
She attended the University of Central Missouri, earning an Associate’s Degree. She worked as a school secretary in the Independence School District. June was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Independence. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.
June is survived by her daughter, Dr. Annette Seago and husband Robert of Blue Springs; son, Mark Sharky and wife Lana of Blue Springs; brother, William Ferguson and wife Twila of Liberty; grandchildren, Ashley Seago, LTJG Scott Seago, Dr. Aaron Sharky, Dr. Chad Sharky, Sean Sharky, Jessica Sharky, Lindsy Benson, Lauren McNees, Michelle Hertlein; great grandchildren, Madeline, Mekenna, Ambrus, Samuel, Emma, and John.
In addition to her husband Virgil, She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Gale Hutchins; sisters, Dortha Ferguson, Wilma Eslinger, Carolyn Lane, and Faye Storms.
Funeral services for June will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, at Community of Christ Church, Independence. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond.
