Lois J. Swafford, 73, of Richmond, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Lois was born Jan. 27, 1940 in Millville, to Lewis E. and Vera M. (Carter) Dooley. She married Edward Lee Swafford of Richmond Aug. 30, 1958; he survives of the home.
Lois was a homemaker. She attended the Henrietta First Baptist Church. Lois had worked at Price Candy Company in Richmond, Whitaker Cable in Excelsior Springs and Lexington, and was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She was a member of the Ray County American Legion Auxiliary. Lois had lived in the Richmond area most of her life.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Carol Y. Williams of Richmond, and Jennie Sue Sloan of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Patricia Misel and her husband, Billy G. of Cowgill; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Williams, Alisha Williams, Ed Sloan, Derek Sloan, Justine Whitworth, Courtney Howerton and Selena Howerton; and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by one daughter who died in infancy; and one sister, Marjorie Howerton.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Cardiology Department at KU Medical Center or to the Henrietta First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Henrietta First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Henrietta First Baptist Church.
