Henry Allen Brown, 93, of Rayville, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Henry was born April 30, 1920 in Rayville, to Henry George and Sallie Ann (Warwick) Brown. He married Lillian A. Watkins of Richmond, Jan. 14, 1956; she preceded him in death Feb. 23, 2000.
Henry was a lifelong Ray County farmer. He had lived in the Rayville area most of his life. Henry was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Rayville Christian Union Church, was a life member of the Ray County Historical Society, Charter member of the Ray County Genealogical Association and a member of the National Association of the Sixth Infantry Division.
Survivors include nieces and nephews and their spouses, Loren and Judy Turnage, Mary Louise and Oswald Tanner, Charlotte and Harold Johnson, Opal Lavern Kindell, Janet and Dave Cook, Norman Brown, and Beth and John Hicks; sister-in-law, Judy Watkins; several great-nieces and nephews, including Russell Johnson who was his caretaker and his wife, Paula; and several great-great- and great-great-great-nieces and nephews who also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, Henry was preceded in death by three brothers, Forrest Vernon Brown, Edwin Brown and Glenn Warwick Brown; and two sisters, Edna Marguerite Turnage and Lydia Irene Brown.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rayville Christian Union Church or to the Allen- Watkins Cemetery.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Rayville Christian Union Church in Rayville. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 22, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Rayville Christian Union Church. Burial will be in the Allen-Watkins Cemetery southeast of Richmond, where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans.
