MONDAY, JULY 8

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.,  Ray County Quilts of Valor Sewing Group will meet at All About Quilting, 108 Wollard Blvd. in Richmond.  Contact Laurel Kindley at 816-868-5246 for more information.

Beginning at 5:15 p.m. with weigh-in, Weight Watchers will meet at the Ray County Health Department, 820 E. Lexington St., Richmond.

TUESDAY, JULY 9

At 11:30 a.m., Richmond Kiwanis meets at the 19th Hole with social time beginning at 11:30 and meeting at noon.

At 4 p.m., the American Legion will host bingo at the Ray County Veterans Building at 312 Clark St., Richmond.

At 6:30 p.m., Richmond City Council will hold a public hearing on its 2014 fiscal budget in council chambers.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10

At 9:30 a.m., Chapter CO of P.E.O will meet at the home of Nancy Jones. Ths is a morning coffee meeting.

Beginning at 1 p.m., Ray County Memorial Hospital Home Health invites the public to its open house at its new location 916 Wollard Blvd., next to the hospital. Please join us to tour the new facility, meet the staff and have refreshments.

FRIDAY, JULY 12

At 7 p.m., gates open at Ray County Fairground for Fair Kick-off Night. K.C. area band Boomerz performs at 7:30. Cost is $5. Public invited to bring lawn chairs.

At noon, Rotary meets weekly at Shirkey’s19th Hole.

From 4 to 8 p.m., Orrick Farmers Market at the corner of Bissell and Front streets. Come sell or buy.  No charge to vendors – must follow Health Department rules and regulations.  For questions, call 816-716-9374 or 816-260-1479. A community service of the Orrick Lions Club.

From 5 to 8 p.m.,  Willow Spring Mercantile, 249 E Broadway, Excelsior Springs, will host monthly Second Fridays with handmade jewelry made from women in Thailand through Nightlight International.

At 7 p.m., Cedar’s Coffeehouse, Excelsior Springs, is hosting a gospel concert.  Lois Chalmers will be performing.

SATURDAY, JULY 13

From 7 a.m. to noon, Attend the Richmond Farmers Market, located on College Street on the west side of the square.  No fees for vendors. Sponsored by the Richmond Downtown District Committee.

At 1 p.m., The Ray County Genealogical Association will meet at the Ray County Museum.  The program will be, “Events that Happened the Year I Was Born.”  Those attending are invited to share their stories.

From 2 to 4 p.m.,  Willow Spring Mercantile, 249 E Broadway, Excelsior Springs, will have retired Professor, Ed Chasteen hosting a booksigning of his book ‘My Life on a Bicycle’.  Disney named Ed the ‘pedalin’ prof from William Jewell’.  All proceeds from the book support the American MS Society, William Jewell College and HateBusters International. Meeting times for Richmond AA and Al-Anon are:  Mondays noon and 8 p.m., Tuesdays noon and 8 p.m., Wednesdays at noon, Thursdays at noon, Fridays noon and 8 p.m. (open meetings), Saturdays noon and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 10 a.m. Open meetings include the first and third Fridays and at 6 p.m. Sunday Big Book Study. Al-Anon meets at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Both groups meet at 304 W. Franklin St., Richmond.
