Michael E. Calvert 61, of Richmond, died Monday, July 22, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born Nov. 19, 1951 in Excelsior Springs, to Harlan and Fern (Nadler) Calvert. He married Joanie L. Henderson of Richmond, May 20, 1988; she survives of the home.
Michael worked at Hallmark Cards as an Inventory Control Specialist for 27 years before retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Ministry in Richmond, and had been a deacon of the Richmond Church of God. Michael had lived in Richmond most of his life.
Additional survivors include his father and step-mother, Harlan and Dottie Calvert of Henrietta; his mother, Fern Calvert of Lexington; three sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Blake and Samantha Calvert of Richmond, and Bryan Michael Calvert of the home; foster son, Curtis Talbott of Richmond; three brothers, Dennis Calvert of Houston, Texas, Keith Calvert of Richmond, and Lindell Calvert of Lexington; and two grandchildren, Abel Christopher Calvert and Leah Talbott.
Michael was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Rita Calvert.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society or to the Michael E. Calvert memorial fund.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 26, at 4 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Thursday, July 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
