Kids didn’t see much carnival action at this year’s snowy Mushroom Festival, so festival organizers jumped at the chance to accept an open date from Evans Midland Carnival. After all, it was a chance for the Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce to recoup some of its loses from the weather-plagued May event.
The open date, July 17-20, just happens to coincide with the Ray County Fair. Proceeds of the carnival will be split between the chamber and Ray County Fair Board, according to Mushroom Festival chairman Nathan Preston. The partnership is a way to aid the fair with financial costs, he said.
The carnival will be at its Mushroom Festival location, just off Main Street in the Camden Street parking lot.
Evans Midland will offer three wristband nights, July 17-19, so kids can ride all the rides from 6 to 10 p.m. for $20. The carnival will also be open Saturday, July 20, 1 to 10 p.m.
