During the week of June 3-7, Richmond FFA members attended the Missouri State FFA Leadership Camp.  FFA Leadership Camp is held at Camp Rising Sun in Lake of the Ozarks State Park.   The chapter was represented by Lauren Barger, Winter Gregory, McKenzie Hayson, Paige Lewis, Breannan Miller, Samantha Miller, Kaitlyn Rowan, Colby Yoakum, advisor Joe Robinson and chaperone Ashley Layman.
While attending camp FFA members participated in leadership workshops, Leadership Development Contest, instructional archery, trapshooting and waterfront activities.

All campers were required to attend specific leadership sessions and activities. Members who attended optional leadership sessions could earn the State FFA Camp Leadership Medal, which is the highest award the camp can award a member.
Members who were not working toward the leadership medal attended instructional sessions for water sport activities, such as skiing, boating and discing.  Other instructional activities included archery and trap shooting.
At Camp Rising Sun, campers could also participate in sporting events such as volleyball, softball, washers, horseshoes and bait casting.  Campers competed in tournaments of these areas that would earn prizes for their cabin.
Each evening, the camp held group activities such as vespers, where a group of members put on a play about first impressions for the other FFA members, and a dance.  One night, campers dressed in Official Dress to see a performance at the Mainstreet Opry.
Most leadership sessions were conducted by Missouri State FFA officers and the camp’s leadership director.  Some leadership sessions were led by guest speakers. These guest speakers included representatives from the Missouri Conservation Department, University of Missouri, Missouri Farm Bureau and Don Koonce.
The Richmond FFA Chapter had several members receive awards and accomplishments.  Kaitlyn Rowan was elected to serve as the camp’s vice president during week one, Lauren Barger was selected as All Around Camper, Colby Yoakum won the impromptu speaking contest, and four members earned the Missouri State FFA Leadership Medal: Lauren Barger, Breanna Miller, Samantha Miller, and Colby Yoakum.
The Richmond FFA thanks all the camp staff and volunteers for the great time at Camp Rising Sun. Thanks to all who supported this activity and a special thank you to Mrs. Layman for serving as a chaperone.
