Ola Steven Swafford, 87, of Norborne passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Ola was born Aug. 19, 1925 in Knoxville, to Carl Steven and Mary Mrytle (Dye) Swafford.
He married Anna Mae Seek of Norborne, Sept. 19, 1944; she preceded him in death May 5, 1972.
Ola was in the salvage business all of his life as owner and operator of the junk yard in Norborne. He was a man of many different talents. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Norborne. Ola had lived most of his life in Norborne.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lawson and her significant other, Bill Munson of Norborne; one sister, Ettie Ellen McCoy of Norborne; two grandchildren, Rhonda Clavin and her husband, Mike and Denise Bristow and her husband, Brad; two great-grandchildren, Connor Scheuler and his wife, Keelan and Nick Scheuler-Clavin; one great-great-granddaughter, Joleigh Ruth Conroy-Scheuler; one niece, Dianna North, who he helped raised; and a host of many other family members and friends also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ola was preceded in death by three brothers, Orvell, Donald and William Swafford; one sister, Bessie Marie Johnson; and one niece, Connie Todd.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Ola Steven Swafford memorial fund in c/o Thurman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Norborne. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Norborne. Burial will be in the Fairhaven Cemetery in Norborne.
