Margaret Ruth McNelly, 90, passed peacefully June 20, 2013 in Excelsior Springs.
Margaret was born Oct. 5, 1922 in Roy, Mont. to Jesse and Ada Adams. She became a lifelong resident of Excelsior Springs when she married Edward McNelly Feb. 15, 1952. Margaret owned and operated the Style Shop, a ladies clothing store, in Excelsior Springs. She was a member and past president of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was an avid golfer, and a longtime member of Excelsior Springs Golf Club. In addition, Margaret enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, as well as cooking. But most of all, our beloved mother was happiest when she was with her family.
Margaret is survived by her sister Lois Workman, and brothers Earl and Robert Adams. Margaret is also survived by her “Boys” and their wives, Ronnie and Leighann, Mike and Martha, Mark and Ann. Margaret had seven grand children and 11 great-grand children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, parents Jesse and Ada, two sisters, Wyvle and Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Mom told us “she had to go, her husband was waiting for her in the lobby”, now they are dancing together again.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, June 27, at Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. Services immediately following, burial at Crown Hill Cemetery.
