Free Gospel music concert at the Eagleton Center

Guitarist Leo Smith, right, a regular at the monthly music jams at the Eagleton Center, usually gets to play just one song – not enough to justify having his full band, The Gospel Echos, set up and accompany him on stage. When County Commissioner Allen Dale heard that Smith requested a 30-minute segment for his band, Dale came up with a solution – why not have a whole afternoon of Gospel music? Museum Manager Linda Emley and the Ray County Historical Society took it from there. The free show will be held this Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and will feature Leon, his wife Sharon and their band. Snacks will be available for purchase. If you need additional information, contact Emley at the museum at 776-2305. (File photo by David Knopf/Richmond News)
