When Larry’s closed earlier this month, Tyler Oliphant decided it was time to set out on his own and provide a service for the Richmond area. Oliphant had been working at Larry’s in the service department for the past five years – the final few months as service manager. When Larry’s closed its doors for good June 1, Oliphant opened up Oliphant’s Appliance Service and Repairs.

The business is now located at 201 East Franklin, Suite 1, in the old Nu2U location.

Oliphant thought he should put his 25 years of experience in appliance repair to good use.

“Nobody else around town does it, so I figured if I want a paycheck, I might as well get to work for myself,” he explained.

Oliphant, worked at Blair’s for approximately 15 years before going to work laying carpet. However, he still kept working on appliances on the side before taking the job at Larry’s.
