Orrick High School FFA formally opened its new campus greenhouse and plant laboratory Tuesday. The project, funded by a grant and local contributions of labor, materials and money, is already filling up with student-grown plants. Above, Ava Lafferty, 8, an Orrick second-grader, shows her family a zucchini squash she planted to study germination for a class project. FFA sponsor Don Honeycutt, in jacket and tie in ribbon-cutting photo, above, left, said the greenhouse would be an educational tool for all Orrick students. Joining him to cut the ribbon are FFA members, from left, Patrick Jones, Mitchell Martinez, Tanner Werle, Cody Sparks, Honeycutt, Tyler Crow, Kendall Kelley (President), Colton Guthrie, Madison Endsley, Hunter Guthrie and Fred Bohn.
